What this paper is about

Edit What this paper is about Content

This paper is designed to move students beyond traditional, direct understandings of coaching and instruction. The paper provides opportunities for 'theories in action' by developing an applied understanding of learner-centred coaching models, planning and programming skills and strategies required to meet the needs of diverse learners and athletes. Students will explore the communication skills and practices associated with coaching and instruction. Finally, the paper includes opportunities for students to consider the potential prospects and limitations of these pedagogical practices in selected settings and also has an embedded placement component to explore our industry with practical experience.

The opportunity of Work Integrated Learning is threaded throughout this paper with a placement component of 60 hours in the sport, recreation and exercise industry.
